Of the three Nootka Marine Adventures properties, Newton Cove is the one that feels furthest from anything. It floats in Esperanza Inlet, tucked in against the forest, with the open Pacific a short run away down the channel, and there is no road, no town, and nothing on the far shore but more trees.

It is the most expensive of the three and the least convenient to reach. Both of those are the point rather than the problem.

Remoteness as a product

There is a version of this trip that is about catching fish, and Newton Cove serves it well: thirty hours on the water across three or four nights, two anglers to a boat, either two half days plus two full days or three full days. Fish processing is included and regulated, filleted, vacuum-packed, flash-frozen and boxed.

But the thing that separates this from its sister property at Galiano Bay is not the fishing.

The rooms are private ensuite suites for two, and dinner is four courses rather than the three served at Nootka Sound. It is a small distinction the group is deliberate about, and one you notice on the third evening.
