Scheduled flights run into Port Hardy from Vancouver, or it is a roughly five-hour drive north from Nanaimo. Properties beyond Port Hardy are reached by operator boat, typically a 30–45 minute crossing.
Strong tidal exchange through Browning Pass and Queen Charlotte Strait feeds dense invertebrate life, soft corals, sponges and anemones, on walls that stay clear through the winter. Visibility is generally best from October through March.
