Lamphouse is Basecamp's modern mountain motel in the heart of downtown Canmore, at 610 8 Street beside Policeman's Creek, steps from the coffee shops and breweries and a footbridge from the pond that the aspens turn gold around in October. The rooms are king and double queen, some with mountain views and one set aside for dogs, plus a queen suite and the Lamphouse Apartment, four beds and two and a half bathrooms for up to ten. Bold design, premium beds and locally made bath products; an outdoor hot tub by the creek open nine to ten daily (towels are in the room, there are no change rooms); and the complimentary shuttle to Everwild, Basecamp's Nordic spa, on request. I photographed and filmed the hotel and built its 360 tour, including the view from across the pond that opens it.

## From, per person

What the rooms are, what a stay includes and the terms you agree to, from the property page and the group terms. No rate card exists: the price is set by date in the booking engine, so the price band on this page is an estimate and the live number is one click away.

## Questions people ask

**Which rooms look at the mountains?**

The king room with mountain view and the double queen with view face the Rundle range across the creek; the plain king and double queen face the courtyard. The apartment has its own patio over the courtyard with the peaks beyond.

**Why a motel downtown?**

Because everything is walkable: the coffee, the breweries, the Bow River trail and the footbridge over Policeman's Creek to the pond, which is the view the 360 tour opens on. For a base for restaurants and short walks rather than a kitchen week, this is the one to pick.

**What does a night cost?**

Basecamp does not print a rate card; the price for each room or suite is set by the date and the length of stay in the booking engine on the property page, with a choice of a flexible rate (cancel free until 72 hours before arrival) and a lower non-refundable prepaid rate. Suites with kitchens are priced for the whole unit, not per person, so a family or two couples in a two-bedroom pays one rate.

**Can I bring my dog?**

At the properties with pet-friendly units, yes, up to two pets, and you must say so when you book so a pet-friendly unit is allocated; a pet found in a non-pet unit is charged $100 a night. Pets stay off the furniture and bedding, out of the spa, on a lead on the property, and any extra cleaning is billed.

**Is there parking?**

Basecamp aims to provide one complimentary space per reservation at every property, displayed with a parking pass; it is not guaranteed, and a second vehicle is not promised a space.
